This heartwarming pet urn is a creation of Kaki, a promising Japanese designer. It breaks away from the solemn style of traditional funeral products and innovatively adopts a cute and cuddly curled-up shape. The designer confessed that his inspiration came from the tricolor cat of his neighbor in his childhood memories. Every late spring, that lazy cat would always sleep soundly on the moss-covered Japanese-style roof tiles, and the sunlight would filter through its fluffy fur, casting a soft and fluffy glow on the eaves, just like a cloud that had mistakenly fallen to the earth.
In terms of material and craftsmanship, this product selects the ecological resin, a specialty of Chiang Mai, Thailand, as the base material. This natural resin, which has passed the SGS environmental protection certification, has excellent plasticity. Combined with the high-pressure molding equipment imported from Germany, it can achieve a 0.02mm precision in shape restoration under a pressure of 180 tons. During the production process, a composite memory material developed in Japan is specially integrated. This not only gives the finished product a warm and semi-transparent texture but also enables it to form a unique patina effect over time, as if retaining the temperature memory of the beloved pet in its lifetime.
The ingenious design features five support points to form a stable structure: the slightly retracted front paws naturally embrace the main body of the container, the arched back smoothly connects to the openable memorial compartment, and the most ingenious tail-up design actually conceals a magnetic sealing device. After 32 manual polishing processes, the finished product will reflect a galaxy-like glimmer at the corners of its eyes.
Although it is currently only available in a standard size (suitable for pets weighing 3-8kg),
this memorial container, which won the 2023 Japan GOOD DESIGN AWARD, is not only a beautiful tribute to life but also an emotional connection that transcends species. When the warm spring sun once again fills the windowsill, that familiar silhouette will continue to guard the eternal bond, as if it has merely changed to a more cloud-near sleeping posture.
